WATCH THE VIDEO. Trump is increasingly frightening. The 30% tariffs on the European Union, effective August 1st, are frightening the Friulian industry, which has a multi-million dollar connection to the United States. Concerns are heightened by the sharp devaluation of the dollar.
Currently, exports to the United States are subject to tariffs of 50% on steel and aluminum, 25% on automotive products, and 10% on various product categories. Starting in August, the 10% rate will be replaced by a uniform 30% tariff on all eligible products.
US-EU negotiations continue. Confindustria Udine president Luigino Pozzo says he is convinced that common sense will prevail. Valduga echoes his sentiments.
